30 Days of Random Things

I am not one to fall into the cute little fads that people do on Facebook. I openly admit that I was a former lover of filling out "about me" surveys during the Myspace era, yet never actually posted them publicly. However, I figured I would do this latest "30 day" photo thing that is circulating on Facebook. But, of course, I would never post those things on a creepy social network that people live and breathe on!

So, here is the layout of the 30 day extravaganza that you are now waiting for with much anticipation:
Day 01 - A picture of yourself with ten facts
Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest

Day 1: A picture of myself with ten facts.

1. It feels really uncomfortable and totally conceited to post a picture of myself alone. I'm not conceited or arrogant, but I actually have a pretty crappy self-esteem. I'm trying to work on it.

2. I'm a senior at UAB. I will be graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree on May 7, 2011. I will soon be a registered nurse (RN). This is barely over two months away and that is completely radical/mind-blowing/surreal. Also, I could write a book on the reasons why you should not go to this college.

3. I am an old soul. Basically, I'm a 40-year old in a 21-year old body. Thankfully God blessed me with some wisdom that is beyond my years and placed no desire in me to do totally foolish things that so many young people do. But for the record, I'm not saying I have never done anything stupid or irresponsible. If anyone says that, they are liars.

4. I LOVE to laugh. I have a really sarcastic, dry sense of humor and enjoy sharing it with others who understand where I am coming from. I tend to laugh at jokes that no one else thinks are funny (or they just don't understand the hilarity that underlies it), and I often laugh 5 minutes after the joke has been told. This usually draws much attention in my general direction, as no one understands why I am still laughing or even what I am laughing at.

5. I'm thankful for God's grace, mercy, and love. I have been/called myself a "Christian" for the majority of my life, but it wasn't until 21 years into my life that I learned what it truly means and the depth of it all. And thank God for this revelation.

6. I'm undeniably a guy's girl. I have always gotten along with them much easier than girls and have always had an appreciation and love for the disgusting things they do, because I like to do those things too. They have always made the best friends, in my opinion.

7. I am an animal lover/enthusiast/freak. No, not the kind who poses for "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" ads or beats you over the head with PETA messages. I just want to take in all of the homeless animals and keep them in my house to love them unconditionally.

8. As much as I love to have my days perfectly planned out and everything fit nicely on a calender, I have really embraced living spontaneously over the past few years. I love being able to sit somewhere one minute, and the next minute I decide to go for a ride and see where it takes me. Or go shoot guns. Or roam through open houses in expensive neighborhoods. Or just go to Target and look for my favorite security guard.

9. I would love to live near the ocean. Maybe one day.

10. I'm marrying my best friend, Merritt Michael Deavin Cottingham, on Saturday, July 9, 2011. I am excited to begin our new life together! He has been the most wonderful blessing.

Oh yeah, I also really love being tan.
